Dozens of Employees Facing Layoffs at St. Gabriel Facility After Contract Expires

WPBN: According to a report by the Louisiana Workforce Commission, a business that has contractual obligations to a facility in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, is getting ready to fire over 100 contract workers.

For the impacted employees and their families, this action is expected to have a major effect.

Official documents show that the company in question, Brown Eagle Contractors, informed the Louisiana Rapid Response Unit about the upcoming layoffs in mid-November.

The business revealed that 122 employees are anticipated to lose their employment permanently. When the contract between Brown Eagle Contractors and the Syngenta facility in St. Gabriel expires in early 2025, these layoffs are anticipated to take place.

Layoffs are anticipated to begin on Thursday, January 16, 2025, according to the company.

Brown Eagle Contractors explained in their official notice that they were notified on November 15, 2024, that the layoffs were due to the conclusion of the contract renewal with the Syngenta facility.

Because the corporation has not given any information about why the contract was not extended, the affected workers’ future is uncertain.
