A guy from Miami has been taken into custody by police in Port St. Lucie after it was reported that he obtained access to the inner workings of a gasoline pump and stole over $2,000 worth of diesel from the pump.

Thursday was the day that officers arrived at a 7-Eleven that was situated on St. Lucie West Boulevard. The staff there had gotten a fraud alert indicating that the theft of gasoline was now taking place at their location.

When the cops arrived, the police stated that they saw the man continuing to pump fuel into a spare gas tank that was located in the bed of his pickup vehicle.

Officers were able to apprehend the suspect, identified as Jose Barrios Pizarro, 29, as he attempted to depart the scene of the crime by getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Pizarro was able to get access to the internal electrical components of the gasoline pump, according to the police, who discovered a key belonging to Pizarro in a garbage can that was located nearby.

According to the investigators, Pizarro had placed a system that allowed for controlled manipulation, which enabled him to take significant quantities of fuel for a fraction of the price.

According to the findings of the investigation, the business suffered a total loss of $1,967 as well as 658 gallons of fuel over three consecutive occurrences and days.

Pizarro, who is from Miami, is being held on allegations of grand theft, accessing a computer without authorization, and participating in an organized plot to defraud.
