Fairfax County on Alert: 2 Florida Residents Suspected in Park Car Break-Ins

According to Fairfax County police, two males from Florida have been accused and placed under arrest in relation to a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred at parks throughout the Virginia county over a nearly two-year period.

According to police, credit cards were frequently found in the cars and then utilized at several local businesses.

On Tuesday, in a Springfield motel, Jonny Marcelo Sandoval-Barraza, 38, and David Daniel Moraga-Nunez, 43, were taken into custody. They have a secured bond and are being held in the county jail.

Ten car break-ins were reported by police between May 22, 2022, and March 27, 2024. Through the use of credit card transactions, license plate reader technology, and surveillance film, the two males were identified.

Burke Lake Park, Hemlock Overlook Regional Park, and Fountainhead Regional Park are among the sites in the county where the break-ins took place.

Nunez was accused by the police of two credit card thefts, three credit card frauds, two identity thefts, providing false information to law authorities, and possessing bogus identification.

Barraza is accused of stealing credit cards on three occasions, using fraudulent cards on four occasions, stealing identity on three occasions, and possessing false identification.

The two guys may have been involved in additional break-ins and events in Fairfax County, according to police, who said they are still investigating these.
