Baby Found Safe After Car Theft Near Fort Lauderdale: Community Efforts Pay Off

NEAR FORT LAUDERDALE  — The parents of a baby boy, who was taken when their car was stolen with him inside, are now feeling relieved as the toddler has been found safe.

On Sunday night, the 21-month-old child was reunited with his family, all thanks to the efforts of compassionate individuals who came to his aid.

One of these kind-hearted individuals, who introduced herself as Denise, recounted discovering the abandoned baby on the street. She shared that as they were driving by, both she and her son noticed the baby. Her son quickly grabbed his phone to video call the police.

Denise explained that they found the little boy still secured in his car seat, located in a residential neighborhood.

“We took the baby and brought him to my house while we waited for the police to arrive,” Denise recalled.

Soon after, deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the boy’s parents also arrived at the scene.

According to the detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. near the 1200 block of Northwest 31st Avenue, close to Fort Lauderdale. The car had been stolen with the toddler inside.

Denise believed that the person who stole the car had left the baby near her home.

The investigators assured that the child didn’t sustain any injuries during the ordeal.
