At around 02:18 a.m., the driver and four passengers were traveling east on University Boulevard South, close to Terry Road, in a 2-door Audi.

The Audi’s driver was speeding significantly and lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve. The car collided with a concrete pole and subsequently caught fire.

Regrettably, four individuals did not survive the crash.

The fifth person was taken to a local hospital by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue (JFRD) with severe injuries.

No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported.

As of now, the identities of the victims remain undisclosed. This incident marks the 124th traffic fatality in Duval County this year.

University Boulevard will remain closed from Terry Road to Barnhill Drive for several more hours. Motorists are urged to find an alternative route.

Notably, there have been six fatalities on University Boulevard within the past ten days, making it the most perilous city street in the county this year.
