After an altercation over $100, Luis Antonio Garza allegedly ran over both adults with his truck, killing the mother of two small daughters in Texas and hospitalizing the other guy.

According to a representative for the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Garza, 26, is accused of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is his truck. He is currently being held. One million dollars is his bond.

When police arrived at a property in Edinburg shortly before 5 p.m. on July 14, they discovered one of the victims, 20-year-old Briseida Cobarrubias, lying in the road, according to a probable cause affidavit.

When the second victim, 27-year-old Jorge Galvan, was contacted by the police, they said he and Cobarrubias “were in an argument with Luis Garza” and that they had started to leave after Garza got into his green Dodge Ram.

Garza allegedly stepped on the gas once inside the car and struck the guy and woman, hitting them both.

According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, surveillance footage from the area supports what Galvan informed investigators. The crash was also shown on camera, according to the police.

Maria Mansano, the mother of Cobarrubias, said to the local CBS affiliate KVEO that she and her husband are currently caring for the two young kids of their late daughter. A GoFundMe page was established to assist in covering the bereaved family’s costs.

“In the afternoon they called us to tell us that they ran her over and when I got there, I saw her face spilling blood from her mouth. It was an argument between the guys and she involved herself,” Mansano stated.

According to Cobarrubias’s father, he and his spouse attempted to contact their daughter to arrange a meeting that Sunday afternoon.

However, she never replied to them. The late woman’s father said that when the police informed her parents, he first believed the crash might not have been as terrible as it seemed.

According to the police, Garza gave up his Miranda rights and made a video confession in which he claimed to have argued with Galvan “about $100 Jorge owed him.”

“He intentionally drove his truck towards Jorge striking Jorge and Briseida causing her death,” police stated.

It is unknown when the 26-year-old guy will next appear in court after being charged on Monday. Galvan received treatment for his minor wounds after being transported to the hospital.
