When a guy from Upstate South Carolina entered a Circle K store recently, he had no intention of purchasing a lottery ticket, according to officials on Thursday.

By happenstance, he was $75,000 richer when he left the East Main Street business in Duncan, according to reports released on Thursday.

When asked how he decided to play, he informed South Carolina Education Lottery officials, “It was spontaneous. I had a few extra dollars, so I bought a ticket.”

He stated that the outcome surprised him and paid $3 for the scratch-off.

He expressed his disbelief by saying, “I kept looking at it.”

He claims he began organizing a trip to Columbia to cash it in after the initial shock subsided, after which he would return home to the bank.

“I’m going to be smart with it,” he stated.

Officials stated that the retailer was paid a commission of $750 for selling it. With a 1 in 900,000 chance of winning, there is still one top prize of $75,000.
