Arson and child endangerment charges have been brought against a guy from New York who is accused of giving a firework to an 11-year-old on July 4 with the order to light it, which resulted in the burning of several residences.
According to a press release from the Nassau County Police Department, Karamjit Singh, 33, of Levittown, is suspected of providing the youngster pyrotechnics on Thursday just before nine in the morning. It is said that he “told the child to ignite” the firecracker, but it’s unlikely that he anticipated what would happen next.
“The firework malfunctioned and caused a detached shed, within the yard, to ignite which became engulfed in flames,” according to the police department. “The fire spread to the defendants dwelling and a neighboring home.”
A call was made for firefighters to put out the fire.

According to Nassau police, a renter who rented space on Singh’s home’s second story has been forced to leave due to fire damage.
According to the statement, “both homes suffered extensive damage, but no injuries were reported.” According to police, Singh was taken into custody and the 11-year-old was then given to a relative.
Singh faces charges related to arson, reckless endangerment, selling pyrotechnics to an underage customer without authorization, illicit fireworks possession, and endangering children.
Records from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office do not show that Singh is detained. Friday was the day of his planned arraignment.
