Florida Highway Crash Claims Lives of Three Children, Injures Others

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a crash near the Florida-Georgia state line on Saturday resulted in the tragic deaths of three children and caused multiple injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. in Nassau County, where two vehicles were traveling southbound on Interstate 95 near MM-381.

Both vehicles were in the center lane when, for an unknown reason, the driver of the leading vehicle suddenly slowed down or stopped on the bridge that separates Florida and Georgia.

The driver of the second vehicle was unable to react in time and collided with the back of the first car.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 10-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy in the first vehicle tragically lost their lives.

Additionally, a 14-year-old boy and a 57-year-old woman sustained critical injuries, while the driver, a 24-year-old man, suffered serious injuries. All occupants of the first vehicle were from Bay Shore, N.Y.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
