A road rage victim in Florida claims her attacker “smiled and laughed” as he pushed the pedal and ran her over with his Jeep, fracturing her leg, rib, and pelvis and causing major internal bleeding. Jermeria Holycross is currently in the hospital and considers herself blessed to be alive, according to her relatives.
“I think the most memorable thing for her, which she keeps repeating, is that he just smiled and laughed at me while hitting me. “She is very traumatized and only has this image in her head,” her aunt Misty Moore told the Tampa Bay Times.
Boris Twillman, 57, a Florida citizen, was no unknown to police. According to the site, he was already out on bond for some crimes, including criminal assault, battery of a senior, and domestic battery by strangulation, all of which were allegedly related to his mother and son.
Twillman called the Largo Police Department to report that “something happened” on U.S. 19, but stated that “he was not personally involved in a crash.” He was promptly arrested on charges of attempted murder and abandoning the scene of a major injury crash. He is being held at the Pinellas County Jail on two bonds of approximately $1 million.
On August 10, Holycross, 24, was driving on US 19 near East Bay Drive with her younger brother and her boyfriend’s two kids when she observed a Jeep tailgating her.
Before she could move out of the way, the Jeep accelerated and rear-ended her Volkswagen Jetta’s bumper, she told police. Holycross took advantage of the traffic stop to check the damage, according to her mother, Tammy Holycross. But as soon as she stepped out of her car, Twillman pushed the gas, striking her and putting her between the two vehicles. He then dragged her across the driver’s side.
“When he hit the car, she got out because traffic was stopped, and she wanted to look at the damages,” she said. “Well, as she looks, he proceeded to look at her, smile and laugh, and hit the gas and run her over in front of my son and her boyfriend’s two children.”
Tammy mentioned that the children watched her face contact the vehicle’s glass, which added to the anguish of an already disturbing circumstance.
“They were shouting, stating that a newborn girl had been killed. Her face hit the glass, and the kids noticed, and it began to bleed. So that was not a good scene for anyone to see,” she remarked. In addition to numerous shattered bones, Holycross experienced internal bleeding, serious facial lacerations, skin burns, and toenail loss.
Several witnesses watched the incident and attempted to intervene, with one unsuccessfully chasing Twillman, according to a GoFundMe page set up to assist Holycross with medical fees. Later that day, the police detained him and stated that he “exhibited extremely dangerous and reckless behavior.”
“This type of behavior cannot and will not be tolerated on the roads of the City of Largo,” the Largo Police Department stated in a statement.
