Following three days of refuge from Hurricane Milton, a Florida homeowner came home to see an alligator doing laps in his pool.
After spending three days in his mother-in-law’s home in Vero Beach, Emile De Cuba said he was relieved to return to his Stuart home and find that the hurricane had not caused any significant damage to it.
He claimed that when he discovered an alligator in his swimming pool, his first sense of relief soon gave way to shock.
“I came home yesterday at around 11:30, and when I went by my sliding door I went ‘Woah,'” De Cuba stated to WPTV.
After getting in touch with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, De Cuba sent trappers to get rid of the reptile.
“The yard is pretty guarded, we have a wooden fence on one side and a chain-link fence on the other with a bunch of vegetation,” De Cuba stated. “The wildlife officer told me that it probably went over the chain-link fence because they can climb those.”
According to him, the alligator most likely strayed from a retention pond nearby.
In order to stop future gator intrusions, De Cuba stated that he will erect an additional barrier at the top of the chain-link fence.

The alligator was by no means the biggest animal to be pulled from a pool in recent days; earlier this month, a moose became stuck in the water after falling through a pool cover at a house in Bedford, New Hampshire, prompting authorities to attend.
