A tragic incident unfolded in South Florida when, on a Friday around 4:20 p.m., a teacher was discovered dead in what appears to be a murder-suicide at a residence. The NBC affiliate WTVJ reported this heartbreaking event.
The school teacher, identified as Maria Cruz, had been dedicated to educating students in both math and Spanish at Doral Academy.
Miami-Dade Police also encountered a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, another man with a gunshot wound, and a woman who fortunately remained unharmed during the incident.
Both wounded individuals were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital and were reported to be in critical condition, as detailed in the report.
Doral academy principal eleonora cuesta states that “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the loss of our cherished ms. Maria cruz. Her compassion, commitment, and love for her students have left an indelible mark on us all. In these difficult times, our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with her daughters.”
Cuesta also mentioned that the school is dedicated to offering essential assistance to students by organizing extra on-site counselors to aid students as they cope with their sorrow.
WTVJ stated that a nearby resident, upon hearing gunshots from inside his house, quickly went to investigate the situation and subsequently dialed 911.
