SPRING HILL, Fla. — A woman from Spring Hill began her Wednesday morning like anyone else, by letting her dogs out into the backyard. However, she discovered an unwelcome visitor on her back porch.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the homeowner contacted 911, stating that she did not know the man who was trespassing. An off-duty deputy in the vicinity responded and found 34-year-old Anthony Stravino “relaxing on the back patio” while charging his phone.
The off-duty deputy promptly detained Stravino, and when other deputies arrived at the scene, the alleged trespasser claimed he believed he was at his girlfriend’s house and was waiting for her to let him in. Stravino admitted that he had no knowledge of his current location or his girlfriend’s address.
During a search of Stravino’s backpack, deputies discovered drugs and related items. A plastic bag containing a light-colored powdery substance tested positive for 0.6 grams of heroin.
Another 0.5 grams of heroin were found on Stravino’s person. Additionally, the backpack contained 22.4 grams of methamphetamine in a crystal-like form. Deputies also found multiple empty plastic bags, a used syringe, and a scale in the backpack.
Stravino now faces charges that include trafficking a controlled substance, possession of narcotics, possession of paraphernalia, and burglary, as he had used the woman’s utilities to charge his phone.
Currently, Stravino is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center on a bond of $23,000.
