On a cruise ship departing from Miami, a man who had previously served as a major with a sheriff’s office in Virginia was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young woman.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, a federal jury found Justin Dale Sigmon guilty of engaging in abusive sexual contact with a kid who was younger than 12 years old on Friday.

At the age of 47, Sigmon served as a major in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in the state of Virginia.

According to the authorities, Sigmon was on a cruise that had left from Miami when he repeatedly put his hands up the skirt of a nine-year-old girl. This occurred despite the fact that she firmly pushed his hands away on many times.

The behavior of Sigmon was observed by two good Samaritans who were sat next to him in the dining room of the cruise ship. They videotaped it and then reported it to the security personnel on the cruise ship.

The actions of Sigmon were also filmed by the surveillance cameras aboard the cruise ship, according to the authorities.

Sigmon revealed his identity as a law enforcement officer when he was confronted by cruise security authorities regarding his behavior.
