Authorities said on Monday that an arrest has been made in relation to the death of a Miami lady, whose body was found inside her apartment more than two months ago.

A Miami Police Department spokesman, Officer Mike Vega, stated that on May 28, just before 8:30 a.m., officers received a call regarding an unconscious woman discovered inside an apartment building close to the 400 block of Northeast 82nd Street.

Sujelry Brito, 41, a single woman, was found dead inside her bedroom from a single gunshot wound, according to the police.

Witnesses gave information regarding Brito’s recent ex-boyfriend, whom they recognized as 30-year-old Larry Julius Burton Jr., the authorities stated throughout the inquiry.

In the arrest report, detectives confirmed Burton’s history of domestic violence and described his car as a white Chevrolet Tahoe with an appearance reminiscent to an older police car.

According to the report, surveillance footage revealed a car that looked like Burton’s coming and going around the time of Brito’s murder.

Investigators say that a sworn interview with a witness on May 20 at around 5:44 p.m. further supported the video evidence by identifying a Black male walking from the truck to Brito’s apartment.

Analysis showed Burton’s phone was close to the murder scene on May 30, when Miami police officers received search warrants for phone records, according to the authorities.

Financial records, according to the police, directed detectives to a residence close to the 6000 block of Northeast First Court. There, they conducted a search and discovered a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun concealed in a sofa cushion.

Burton was discovered sitting in a car before the search warrant was carried out; according to the police, he was stopped and put into arrest on Friday.

Burton provided a confession that was withheld from the publically available record during his interrogation at the MPD’s homicide bureau, detectives said.

According to Burton’s arrest record, he is charged with one count each of second-degree murder, breaking into an occupied house, and unlawfully possessing a weapon while a convicted felon.

He was being held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center as of Monday; the amount of his bond is still pending. A motive for the deadly shooting has not yet been revealed by the police.
