On Monday night in Southwest Baltimore, a guy was shot by police and died. Around 9:15 p.m., officers were on patrol in the vicinity of N. Stricker Street when they noticed someone they thought might be armed, according to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley.

After the policemen engaged him in a chase, the man fled. When they halted, there was a scuffle and other police fired rounds, according to the police. At the scene, the unnamed man passed away.

According to Worley, three policemen shot the man after he displayed “characteristics of an armed person.” According to authorities, a gun was found at the site.

“It was what we call characteristics of an armed person,” Worley stated. “Because the individuals who fired their weapons were the ones that saw that, they haven’t given a statement yet, so that will be part of the investigation.”

The gunshot caused no injuries to the cops. The Attorney General’s Office and the Baltimore Police Department are conducting an investigation together.

“None of use wish to ever be here for a situation like this,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott stated. “We are grateful there were no further injuries to our officers or other community members. we know this community will need to heal.”

Scott went on to say he hoped people would reconsider using firearms to settle disputes.

“There’s nothing good that’s going to come out of it for you or your family,” Scott stated. “We have to have a understanding that there is a better way. Gunplay is not the way anyone has to go in the City of Baltimore.”
