Fort Lauderdale Protesters Stand Against Florida Abortion Ban, Converge at City Hall

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Fort Lauderdale) Rally participants gathered in the central business district of Fort Lauderdale to demonstrate their support for reproductive rights.

On Saturday afternoon, demonstrators opposed to abortion restrictions led a march down North Andrews Avenue toward City Hall with the goal of delivering their message. The demonstrators represented many charitable organizations.

Protesters have stated that they want the subject to be on the ballot in 2024.

“It’s about giving women control over their own bodies,” she explained. “That’s the nut and bolt of it,” an activist named Leslie Sheffield stated. This is about human rights and reproductive rights; there is no right or wrong way to look at it. This is what is meant by civil rights.

In a ceremony that took place behind closed doors on April 13, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis put his signature on a bill that will ban abortions after six weeks with very few exemptions.

In the event that an ongoing legal challenge to the state’s existing 15-week prohibition is successful, the bill will be put into force as soon as possible.
