Security footage capturing the moments when police say a man was shot and killed inside a Fort Lauderdale Mexican restaurant early on Monday morning. The gunshot at Antojitos Mexicanos, 3943 Davie Blvd., was reported just before 1:30 a.m.
Officers discovered 54-year-old Socorro Camacho suffering from several gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene, according to Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Ali Adamson. At the scene, he was declared deceased.
A man wearing a cowboy hat and a red long sleeve shirt appeared to be fighting with the Camacho close to the restaurant’s bar, according to surveillance footage.
The pair looked to be conversing at first, but then the guilty man reached for his waistline and pulled out a revolver. The offender was then seen to collapse to the ground after being shoved by Camacho.
According to investigators, the gunman opened fire on Camacho once as he got up and then followed him behind the bar and shot him several times. The gunman left the scene with a casual gait while the restaurant’s patrons rushed away.
After that, his body was hauled out of the eatery and taken to the medical examiner’s office for Broward County.
The victim’s brother, Julian Camacho, stated that when Socorro Camacho did not return home from the restaurant, he and others went to the location to seek for him.
After leaving, according to Julian Camacho, he returned at around ten in the morning and saw his brother’s work truck parked in the back. He stated he’s optimistic the suspect is arrested.
