A fortunate Powerball player in Georgia broke the state’s nearly ten-year streak of winning the lottery’s jackpot on Wednesday night, taking home an estimated $478 million reward.

2, 15, 27, 29, 39, and red Powerball 20 were the winning numbers.

The unidentified winner can choose to receive the estimated $478 million in rewards spread over 29 years or the estimated $230.6 million lump amount if all six numbers match.

The tremendous odds of 1 in 292,201,338 are required to win the Powerball jackpot prize.

The victory on Wednesday night ended a two-month streak of Powerball jackpot winners. On August 19, 2024, a lottery player from California won the $44.3 million prize.

Over the past 14 years, the Peach State has sold four tickets that have won jackpots.

On September 17, 2016, the couple William and Heather ten Broeke won the $246 million prize, however they chose to keep the $165,613,510.93 cash payout instead.

According to WSB2, Heather ten Broeke urged her husband to get a lottery ticket for the drawing while they were in a grocery store. They revealed that they intended to use their winnings for charitable donations, investments, family vacations, and travel.

In June 2011, a ticket for $77.1 million was sold but never claimed.
