Georgia Woman Cites 'God' and Solar Eclipse in Florida Shooting Incident

A Georgia woman accused “God” and Monday’s solar eclipse of inciting her to go on a highway shooting spree in Florida that left two others injured.

Following her arrest, 22-year-old Taylor Nichelle Celestine was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper firearm discharge.

Celestine allegedly told employees at the hotel when she checked out that the solar eclipse and being “directed by God” were the reasons behind her planned killing spree.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that Celestine fired multiple rifle shots at a car while driving her purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia license plates onto Interstate 10 in the Florida panhandle.

“The driver was struck by glass fragments from the window and grazed on the arm by a bullet,” FHP stated. “He was able to steer his vehicle onto the shoulder of the road, away from the suspect.”

According to reports, Celestine fired at another car, striking the driver in the neck. The motorist was brought to a local hospital for medical attention.

After stopping Celestine’s car and taking her into jail, troopers reported finding an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun inside her vehicle.

At the moment, Celestine is being detained at the Holmes County Jail.
