Police have found a 7-year-old kid who went missing from the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Police claimed that Derek Clay was last seen on Tuesday in the courtyard of an apartment complex on the 1100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. He was recovered Wednesday “in good health” in downtown Los Angeles, police said in a tweet. At the corner of 5th and San Pedro streets, police located him.
Captain Sonia Monico of the LAPD remarked, “Our lost child has been found.” “The child is safe, and our detectives are taking care of him or her at the moment. The investigation is still going on.” At this point, there is no sign that anyone did anything wrong.”
Monico reported that the toddler was located on the street.
“I can’t even describe it. “You don’t want to see me cry,” said the boy’s grandfather, Donald Lewis, as he drove to the police station to get his grandson.
When Derek went missing, his family and neighbors were upset.
“He’s my little guy,” said Edgar Acevedo, who, after he got home from work, would play soccer with Derek in the courtyard of their apartment complex.
“He waits for me to come home all the time…. I’m very scared. I’m upset. Before Derek was found, Acevedo said, “I worry about his safety.”
