Governor DeSantis Drops Bombshell Announcement That Has Floridians Cheering!

BAY COUNTY, Fla. — Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida kept it real Thursday morning in the Panhandle.

DeSantis said, “I don’t know what S.O.B. will take my place, but they won’t have much to do because we’re taking all the meat off the bone.”

DeSantis is adding two weeks to the time that people can fish for red snapper in the Gulf.

“It’s a great place to be, a great place to visit, a great place to raise a family, and now it’s an even better place to do red snapper,” DeSantis said.

The 2023 season will start on June 16 and last until July 31.

“It’s going to be a great year for Florida and all of our visitors,” said Kevin Lolley, a local Charter Boat Captain.

In the fall, you can go fishing for red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, including Veterans Day and the weekend after Thanksgiving.

“When you give us a season like this, it’s a big economic boost,” said Fishing Guide Captain Justin Leake.

DeSantis also did a good thing by approving a long-awaited budget item for the next fiscal year.

Lolley, who is from Apalachicola, said he is thankful.

Lolley said, “I want to thank the Governor for the $17 million for the oyster restoration project.” “That’s going to be a huge deal for the industry, and we’re very happy about it.”

Because of these choices, there should be more going on in the tourist business as a whole.

“Find you a governor who has done as much for the Panhandle as I have,” DeSantis said. “I don’t think that’s possible to find.”

The governor also said that he thinks he will have to cancel less budget items this year.
