In Albany, an upset mother wants to ensure that her son receives justice after he was one of three young men killed in a high-speed chase.
Three young men were slain in a high-speed pursuit in October, including Zion McClendon, Courtney McClendon’s son. The sole survivor of the collision was Dontavious Reese, the driver of the vehicle.
Despite being charged with multiple crimes, Reese is not incarcerated. So that her family may take the necessary actions to move on, Courtney McClendon wants to ensure that her son receives justice.
“I got that call at 1:30 in the morning and it was the worst call I’ve ever received in my life,” McClendon stated.
Courtney McClendon is talking about the morning her son was being pursued by the Georgia State Patrol when he was involved in an accident. Three passengers were involved, including Zion McClendon.
“I know [Dontavious Reese] is still free. He has not been arrested. I haven’t seen anything stating he’s even wanted for the charges they told me he has,” McClendon stated.
Courtney McClendon says it’s difficult for her family to find closure because the man who caused the disaster is still at large, and she wants him to be held accountable.
“If he pulled over when he immediately saw the police, I wouldn’t be here now. I know nothing can bring my son back and I feel like they all made choices that day,” Courtney stated. “My son, along with the other young men, paid with their lives for the choices they made, but I feel the driver has to be held accountable for his actions.”

“I have always fought for my kids and I’m going to continue to do that. I just hope they know I’m not going away until something is done,” Courtney added.
