On Thursday, Annetta Garcia sat at a roadside memorial in Miami-Dade County, weeping for her 22-year-old son. 23 days have passed since Alexander Jesus Moya passed away close to the U.S. 441 entrance ramp for Interstate 95 northbound.
According to Garcia, she is still unsure of how it occurred.
“I know nothing is going to bring him back but I’m looking for exactly what happened,” Garcia stated.
Moya was struck by a commercial vehicle driver after he fell from a scooter, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol. Garcia claimed that the FHP representative who alerted her of his passing simply mentioned that he had fallen off his scooter.
A witness captured a video of the car that had stopped after hitting Moya and him lying on the ground. Garcia claimed that she discovered the FHP employee had lied by omission after watching the video.
Garcia claimed that the driver who departed the scene and the FHP personnel had deceived her.
“This is a pain that I don’t want anyone to go through,” Garcia stated. “I want justice … Why did he live him there like a dog?”

Garcia is plagued by unanswered concerns about why her son fell off the bike and why the driver was not taken into custody.
“I understand accidents happen, and I forgive him, but I won’t forgive him for the fact he left him there,” Garcia said continuing, “He was just special. He was my son, he was my best friend. I was his best friend. I had him at a young age, so at some point, we grew up together.”
