A teenage boy from Alabama was killed and five other people were injured in an explosion that destroyed a home in southwest Louisiana. Investigators are currently investigating the cause of the blast.
Bryan J. Adams, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal, reported that the explosion occurred early on Saturday. The house was on fire when the firefighters arrived.
The explosion destroyed the house, sending debris flying for a while and severely harming some neighboring cars as well as a metal outbuilding.
According to local news sources, Deuce Barrere, 16, of Theodore, Alabama, was killed. Along with Barrere, five other people—including her mother and older sister—were sent to hospitals. Adams claimed that a toddler present in the home was unharmed and was under the care of family members.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy for this family and community,” Adams stated.
Duece Barrere was a high school cheerleader, according to friends who came together on Dauphin Island, Alabama, on Sunday to honor him.
According to Adalynn Hall, Barrere’s girlfriend, “when I was upset, he always made sure it was good before I left, and he always made sure everybody here was happy.”
