Authorities said that two men and a woman were caught in Florida after they allegedly tried to kill a woman in New Jersey as part of a conspiracy.

Along with aggravated assault, stalking, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, Betty Jo Lane, Jmarr McNeil, and William DiBernardino also face charges.

According to officials, Monroe Township officials were called to a residence in the Forrest Hills neighborhood of New Jersey on Friday, July 26.

When the police showed up, they discovered that the 42-year-old resident had been accosted by an unidentified lady who had thrown a cup with its liquid contents right at her as she had pulled into her driveway after returning from work.

According to authorities, the unidentified female attacker drove off in a silver or gray sedan. The victim was taken to a burn clinic, where she is currently receiving treatment, having suffered chemical burns over 35% of her body. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office believes that the liquid used in the attack was a very caustic acid.

The suspect car was identified after a “extensive” inquiry; it was rented from a Florida rental agency and registered under a Florida address.

The prosecutor’s office stated that it was found that 49-year-old DiBernardino of Boynton Beach, Florida, recruited and paid two individuals, identified as 38-year-old Lane and 39-year-old McNeil of Jacksonville, Florida, to carry out the attack on the victim, with whom DiBernardino had a previous relationship.

Lane and McNeil drove to New Jersey in the rental automobile with the intention of attacking the victim. While awaiting their return to New Jersey, Lane, McNeil, and DiBernardino were detained in Florida. They all consented to being transferred to New Jersey by waiving their right to extradition.
