MIAMI – Two persons were hurt when a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the Florida Turnpike crashed near Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Near NW 199 Street, the driver of a white Chevrolet Camaro allegedly caused a head-on collision with a silver Toyota pickup truck while driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike. The incident was reported to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Toyota had relatively minor injuries in the accident.
“I was driving in the direction of the south, but for some reason, I don’t know, I just saw a light coming toward me, and I pulled over to the right. ”
When I pulled back on the left, the other person pulled back on the left, and when I pulled on the right, the other person pulled on the right. And it struck dead center. The driver of the truck commented, “All I can say is that I’m thankful to be alive.”
The driver of the Camaro suffered significant injuries and was taken by helicopter to Ryder Trauma Center.
In order to facilitate the safe landing of the air rescue helicopter, the Turnpike was briefly stopped in both directions.
