A couple from Pembroke Pines was taken into custody by the Miami Springs Police Department for a range of serious charges, which include human trafficking and offenses related to prostitution, as per officials.
Matthew Vincent, 30, and Deja Washington, 23, were apprehended on Thursday near the Clarion Inn & Suites Miami International Airport, situated at 5301 NW 36th St. in Miami Springs.
Authorities mentioned that the arrest followed an anonymous tip provided to The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Human Trafficking Task Force, ultimately leading to the rescue of a female victim who had been coerced into engaging in sex work.
As outlined in the arrest report, Deja Washington and Matthew Vincent had manipulated the victim into participating in sex work, taking her earnings, and subjecting her to various forms of coercion.
Police stated that the victim reported being instructed to perform at strip clubs in Hallandale Beach and engage in sexual activities with clients.
Vincent and Washington were both apprehended following a thorough investigation. According to the arrest report, Deja Washington informed the police during questioning that she is expecting a child and Matthew Vincent is the father.
They were taken to the Miami Springs Police Department for administrative procedures and then to TGK for the booking process.
