A 28-year-old man from Miami, who sustained injuries in a shooting at a shopping plaza on Sunday morning, is now facing charges of robbery, simple assault, and criminal mischief related to the incident, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
Darryl Gary-Paul McLinton was identified as the aggressor leading up to the shooting that occurred at the Palm Beach Commons plaza around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, as stated by spokeswoman Teri Barbera.
Although McLinton was initially taken to a hospital, he was subsequently booked into the Palm Beach County jail at 2:04 p.m. on Sunday.
Currently held on a $3,500 bond, he is charged with burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, damage to property (criminal mischief), and simple assault with the intent to cause harm.
During his first appearance on Monday, McLinton was ordered not to have any contact with the victim, and his next court appearance is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on January 23.
Details regarding the incident, including information about the shooter, were not provided by Barbera. Additionally, the arrest report is not available on the clerk’s site due to the Christmas holiday.
The shooting took place at 1376 N. Military Trail and Cherry Road, north of Belvedere Road.
