The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking into a tragic incident where a woman was fatally shot while in a car on Old Middleburg Road South.
At approximately 6 a.m. on Thursday, a passerby noticed a car with its lights on and bullet holes in the parking lot near Argyle Athletic Association.
They promptly dialed 911, and both JSO patrol and JFRD arrived at the location.
Upon reaching the scene, JFRD personnel discovered a woman inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Regrettably, she was declared deceased right there.
It is uncertain whether she drove herself to that spot.
The Homicide and Crime Scene units of JSO, in collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office, are conducting an inquiry.
Detectives are actively searching the vicinity for potential witnesses and reviewing any available video footage. As of now, there is no information regarding a motive or a suspect.
