Giorgia Villa, an Italian gymnast competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, assisted her team in winning the silver medal in the all-around competition on Tuesday. However, her sponsorship agreement with cheese appears to be the topic of greater interest on social media.
“I need the people to know that olympic silver medalist giorgia villa is sponsored by parmesan cheese and regularly posts pics of herself with giant wheels of cheese,” a person posted on X on Wednesday.
“I have a new hero and it’s Giorgia Villa from Team Italy who is literally sponsored by CHEESE,” another wrote.
The 21-year-old Villa first revealed her collaboration with Parmigiano-Reggiano in April 2021 by taking a photo beside a massive wheel of cheese while wearing a black gymnastics leotard.

“I am very happy to be part of the great @parmigianoreggiano family,” she stated in an Instagram post that was translated. “Since I was a child I’ve always loved this amazing product, a symbol of excellence and Italian culture, and since today being able to collaborate with them makes me extremely proud and excited to face future challenges!”
After Villa’s Olympic victory this week, the picture started to surface again.
Villa frequently posts pictures of herself posing with cheese from 2021 on her Instagram account. It’s unclear if she and Parmigiano-Reggiano are still partners. She enjoyed it as a snack “to recover my energy and prepare for the new workout,” according to one of her posts.
