JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a 2-year-old child has died following an incident in Jacksonville on Friday.

The police were informed around 11:59 a.m. that the child had been taken to a local hospital with injuries and later succumbed to those injuries.

The JSO is currently working to locate the exact scene of the incident. The initial EARS alert sent to the media mentioned the 300 block of Caravan Circle, but its connection to the incident remains unclear.

Details regarding the nature of the child’s injuries and the person who brought the child to the hospital are also unknown at this time.

However, the JSO has confirmed that the case is being treated as a criminal investigation. The authorities are requesting anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
