Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Probes Fatal Shooting on Sunday Night

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on West Union Street.

According to the initial findings of the detectives, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Sunday in response to the incident.

Upon arrival, they discovered an unidentified man inside the residence who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene after efforts by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

Additionally, a woman was also found at the same location with gunshot wounds. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department promptly transported her to a local hospital where she is reported to be in serious condition.

Presently, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case, with the involvement of the Homicide and Crime Scene units, as well as the State Attorney’s Office.

Their primary goal is to swiftly identify the deceased victim and gather information from potential witnesses who may have pertinent details about the shooting.

Investigators are diligently working to determine the circumstances leading to the shooting and the relationships between those involved.
