A man was arrested by a multi-jurisdictional drug task force in Lake City for dealing illegal drugs. Joseph McMullen, a 50-year-old resident of Delray Beach, engaged in a drug transaction on Northeast Escambia Street and Calhoun Avenue, as reported by Columbia County Sheriffās deputies on Friday.
When deputies approached him, McMullen attempted to flee, prompting a brief chase. Deputies used a taser to apprehend him and take him into custody.
During a search, detectives discovered crack cocaine, powder cocaine, Alpha PvP, marijuana, and over $1,000 in cash on his person and in his vehicle.
As a result, he was booked into the Columbia County Jail on various drug-related charges, including drug possession.
He was just let out of federal prison for drug-related offenses and is now on federal probation.
“I am proud of these detectives for proactively combatting drugs in our community,” Sheriff Mark Hunter stated. “We will stay in the fight and will continue to use our resources to help improve the quality of life for citizens who want to rid their neighborhoods of this activity.”
