LCPD Investigates Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old Victim

As a result of reports of gunfire, the Lake City Police Department went to the location on Northwest Long Street.

On November 26, at approximately four in the morning, law enforcement officials found a male victim who was 19 years old and had been shot.

They administered first aid, and emergency medical services took the sufferer to the hospital. Tragically, Nicholas Rashard Whitehead succumbed to his injuries.

The premises of the crime were secured by law enforcement officers, with the assistance of deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted a crime scene investigation and processed the area.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Lake City Police Department, in cooperation with those from the State Attorney’s Office, initiated communication with the family of the victim as well as potential witnesses after the investigation was begun.
