Lee County Sheriff's Department Investigates Alarming Case of Animal Cruelty

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a potential case of a deceased dog.

Upon reviewing the Facebook post, the content of the message was found to be deeply troubling. Deputies from Lee County initiated an inquiry at a residence on Meadow Road in Lehigh Acres.

They made contact with a 31-year-old individual named Anthony Knight, who is also recognized as Antonio Rodriguez on Facebook.

When presented with the information, Knight admitted to posting the messages. He guided the investigators to the location where he had buried his deceased dog, Kalea.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Kalea had been left inside a cage within the garage without proper ventilation or access to water.

She passed away with her face near an empty bowl. Following the issuance of a search warrant, Kalea’s remains were collected and sent for a necropsy.

Knight was taken into custody and is facing charges of felony animal cruelty. It was discovered that Knight had previous convictions for possessing marijuana, cocaine, attempting to elude authorities, and possessing a weapon as a previously convicted felon. Additionally, he was under probation during the time of this incident.
