Without disclosing their identity, a Massachusetts lottery player announced their win of a $1 million prize from a crossword game.
“$5,000,000 100X Cashword,” which costs $20 to play, is where the $1 million reward was found. At the 7-Eleven on 397 West Center St. in West Bridgewater, a winning crossword ticket was purchased.
The recipient decided to use a trust to get their prize. On September 10, the Jaw Family Trust expressed their desire to accept the award as a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes, with trustee John Gianino acting as their representative.
A $10,000 bonus for selling the item will be given to the retailer where the $1 million ticket winner purchased it.
If you win the lottery in Massachusetts, can you maintain your anonymity? Although it is not permitted by law, Massachusetts lottery winners are nonetheless able to stay anonymous.
By creating a trust, winners of the Massachusetts Lottery can designate a trustee who will be responsible for turning in the winning ticket, collecting the check, and depositing it into a beneficiary’s bank account.
Along with the winner’s check, the lottery also takes a picture of the trustee and publishes it.

A trust or other legal entities that meet the requirements for being considered a legal person may claim prizes, according to Mark William Bracken, Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery.
“The identity of the trustee or legal representative is made public. Over the last several years, we have seen an increase in the number of large prizes claimed by trusts,” according to the director.
