A young Taylor Swift fan in Miami received a much-needed smile thanks to a kind present from a mother and daughter.
For the past few months, eight-year-old Emoree Smith has been battling stage four alveolar metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that requires frequent trips to Broward Health Hospital and a lot of chemotherapy.
“Music is our therapy,” Emoree’s mother, Rashonda Coney stated. “We actually get in the car and we have concerts. We don’t care about who’s looking out from the other side of the vehicle.”
On Tuesday, Emoree was given the surprise of a lifetime when she strolled down the hall.
When a mother displayed her tickets to see Taylor Swift perform live in Miami, her first confusion about the hospital staff’s exclamations of “Surprise!” swiftly gave way to horror.
Meena Daljitsingh, a hospital pharmacy employee, remarked, “We heard you like Taylor Swift. Would you like to go to a Taylor Swift concert? Well, my daughter, Crystal over here has a little surprise for you. You know what this is ?”
The young Taylor Swift fan, who was receiving treatment just down the hall, was showered with praise and cheers when she was given the tickets.
“What is your favorite Taylor Swift song?” asked one media person. “I know it’s so hard because she has so many good ones.”
“I like them all,” Emoree stated.
“It gives her some normalcy,” Rashonda stated. “It’s not the easiest thing, going through chemo. It’s not the easiest thing, to have such a thing. Especially at the age of eight. So I think her going to the concert is a slight bit of relief, allowing her to let everything out and just breathe and be herself.”

Regarding Emoree, she has a single message for Taylor Swift if they ever cross paths:
“Hi,” Emoree exclaimed.
Emoree revealed that she planned to attend the concert sporting the signature red lipstick and a blonde wig. The mother is now counting down the days until the Miami event on October 20 with her daughter.
