After being accused by police of following a woman into her Chinatown apartment, where he attacked and stabbed her more than 40 times, the guy from New York City entered a guilty plea to first-degree murder and burglary.
Alvin Bragg, the district attorney for Manhattan, declared in a statement that 25-year-old Assamad Nash will be “held accountable” for the brutal death of 35-year-old Christina Yuna Lee on February 13, 2022.
“Today Assamad Nash was held accountable for senselessly taking Christina Yuna Lee’s life after he followed her into her own home,” Bragg stated.Â
“Ms. Yuna Lee’s family and loved ones were deprived of a daughter, sister, and friend,” he stated. “My thoughts are with her family and our community as they continue healing from this tragedy.”
After following Lee to her walk-up apartment on the sixth floor, Nash said that he “ran up besides her, pushed his way inside and attempted to sexually assault her.”
After a woman was heard screaming by neighbors, police were summoned to the flat.

Police reported that upon their arrival at the Manhattan apartment, they discovered Nash concealed beneath a mattress and a bloodied kitchen knife stashed behind a dresser.
Police discovered the 35-year-old with “at least” 40 stab wounds, including cuts to her neck and torso, in the apartment’s bathroom.
Following the incident, a number of state and local officials denounced the murder as an attack on the Asian American community, among them Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams.
Nash was under supervised release for three outstanding cases and had a lengthy criminal history in New Jersey at the time of the suspected murder.
