According to authorities, a gunman went on a deadly rampage at an Alameda home on Wednesday, killing his wife, her parents, and their 6-year-old kid. He also critically injured his 1-year-old son.
A person on the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road reportedly contacted 911 and reported that their neighbor had been shot, according to Alameda police.
According to the police, three of the victims passed away right away, and two more were carried to the hospital, where one later passed away.
“This is a tragic and sad incident,” Alameda Chief of Police Nishant Joshi told reporters during a press conference on Thursday morning. “And I’ll say this, these are the actions of a coward. I know what happened, I have some idea of what happened, and this person’s actions are those of a coward.”

Joshi stated that the father-in-law asked a neighbor for assistance in calling 911 after he was shot. When the police arrived, they discovered the father-in-law outside the house. Before passing away, he spoke with them. Within the residence, the remaining victims were discovered.
“The father-in-law did make some statements. We’re still trying to review those and understand what was said,” Joshi stated. “Our officers do wear body-worn cameras. I’m not sure they captured that conversation.”
Police did not provide a reason for the shooting. Shane Killian was named as the suspect, and according to the police, he was taken into custody on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Authorities “recovered multiple firearms and significant evidence” from inside the property, according to a press release. Additionally, police stated that there was no evidence indicating a continuous threat to the public.
