This week, the sentence was meted out to a guy who confessed to shooting his friend, the owner of an Ohio tattoo parlor, seventeen times during a dispute over money while the victim pleaded for his life.

In connection with the killing of 42-year-old Brian Wilson, Michael Guilfoyle Jr., 33, was sentenced to 38 years to life in prison on Monday. In June, Guilfoyle entered a guilty plea to charges of aggravated burglary and aggravated murder.

Wilson’s wife testified in court that he was a nice husband and father, according to a local NBC affiliate, WLWT.

“For me, losing Brian has meant losing my partner, my rock, my soulmate, my best friend, and the love of my life,” Jennifer Wilson stated. “Our youngest son Ryker was 3 when this happened. He cries and misses his daddy so much. It breaks my heart that he loses out on having his daddy raise him and teaching him how to become a man.”

Judy Wilson, Brian Wilson’s mother, criticized Guilfoyle in a statement, according to Johnson.

Judy Wilson stated in a statement that, “The defendant is a parent’s worst nightmare. The worst human any child should have or call father. A disgrace to society and to our country and should not be considered a Marine and does not deserve the title of a veteran.”

The defendant expressed regret; he was a former Marine who had served in Afghanistan.

According to a news statement from the authorities, Wilson passed away on January 8, 2023, inside the Stay Gold Tattoo Studio in Batavia Township. The distance east of Cincinnati is roughly 26 miles.

That morning, a 911 open line call was received by the Clermont County Communication Center. According to sheriff’s authorities in the news release, dispatchers heard gunshots after an argument about money even though they were not in direct communication with the caller.

“There’s a man yelling, ‘Give me the money. I’m going to shoot. Give me the money,'” the dispatcher stated, WLWT reported. “There’s another man in the background saying that he doesn’t have $2,500 on him.”

Responses came from neighboring law enforcement agencies and patrol deputies from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

The response and arrest were documented in an affidavit and were captured on police body camera footage, according to ABC station WCPO.

When the first cop arrived, he heard two bullets fired, followed by a pause. He spotted Wilson laying unconscious on the nearby road, where he passed away, and a man brandishing a rifle at the edge of a roadway. The gunman was told to drop on the ground by the police. When more police came, the gunman—later identified as Guilfoyle—was apprehended.

According to the complaint, Guilfoyle informed investigators that he shot the man 17 times “because he owed him money and it was someone he thought was his friend.”
