WPBN: According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP), a man wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting of a sheriff’s deputy in Kentucky was taken into custody on Sunday following an extensive manhunt.
After reportedly firing bullets at law enforcement authorities who were responding to a call about a domestic disturbance, the suspect, who has been identified as Julio Morales and is 53 years old, became the focus of a police operation in Breckinridge County.
The incident started when deputies were called to a property in the vicinity of the 2100 block of Kentucky 2779 in order to deal with a domestic dispute within the residence.
According to reports, Morales started fire on the officers as soon as they arrived, causing two police cruisers to be damaged and leading to the injury of one deputy.
Not life-threatening injuries were experienced by the injured deputy, as stated by the Kentucky State Police. After the gunshot, Morales ran away from the site and made his way into a nearby forested area to escape the situation.
Because of the potentially hazardous circumstances, a manhunt was initiated in an effort to locate Morales. The Kentucky State Police utilized drones and solicited the support of their Aviation Branch in order to assist in the hunt for the missing person.
Additional complication was added to the operation as a result of the wooded terrain and Morales’ apparent attempt to elude capture. This necessitated coordinated operations amongst the various law enforcement organizations.
Trooper Scotty Sharp of the Kansas State Police made the announcement that Morales had been brought into custody at the conclusion of several hours of searching without any more incident.
On Sunday, the arrest took place a little after 5:30 o’clock in the evening. According to the timeline of events, the initial report of the shooting was received by the authorities at approximately six o’clock on Saturday evening. This marks the beginning of an attempt that lasted almost twenty-four hours to apprehend the culprit.
