Man's Strange Rooftop Behavior Causes Chaos in San Jose Neighborhood

A busy part of St. Augustine Road in San Jose was closed for a few hours on Friday morning while police worked to end what people in the area called a strange situation.

One business owner told Action News Jax that cops told him to get everyone out of his building. Several of the neighbors were also told to stay put.

“I was scared because I didn’t know what was happening. I’ve never had anything like this happen here. “Well, I guess things happen,” Jimmy Jubran said.

Jubran said that a man jumped on the roof of his building and threw rocks at Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office police. He said that the cops tried to get him to come down, but he jumped to the next roof instead. Someone sent a picture of the man to Action News Jax:

SWAT trucks, a command center, and dozens of police cruisers were on the scene, closing St. Augustine Road between Jernigan and Dawin roads for at least four hours.

Jubran said that a ladder truck was used to get the man down.

News in Action Jax called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to find out what was going on with the man and how he was doing. We also asked if any arrests had been made because of it. We haven’t heard back as of the time this article was released.
