Map Reveals Florida Cities Facing Freezing Temperatures as Polar Cold Front Arrives

Florida is expected to see freezing temperatures as a result of a strong arctic cold front moving across the Sunshine State.

Forecasters predict that temperatures over the I-10 corridor will drop close to or below freezing on Sunday, resulting in the development of the first freeze of the season.

The weather system will have the most impact in the northern part of Florida, with temperatures falling below 32 degrees in places like Jacksonville, Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Lake City, among others.

According to the Florida Division of Emergency Management, Monday morning temperatures will be at their lowest in Marianna, Jackson County, where it will feel like 24 degrees.

In contrast, it will feel like 25 degrees in Panama City and dip to 27 to 30 degrees in Jacksonville, Pensacola, Horseshoe Beach, Crestview, Perry, Tallahassee, Lake City, Apalachicola, and Graceville.

A freeze warning is expected to be in effect for a number of places along the I-10 corridor overnight on Sunday and into Monday morning due to the chilly temperatures.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issues freeze warnings when temperatures are expected to fall below 32 degrees for numerous hours during the course of the next 24 hours. Any plants should be brought indoors during a freeze warning, and any required precautions should be taken to keep plumbing from freezing.

The mid- to upper-70s, which are typical for early December, will probably be reached by the end of the first week of December.

It coincides with a warning from the NWS Climate Prediction Center about a possible “hard freeze” that might hit the Southeast, including northern Florida.

According to the center, this is probably going to happen early next week. As stated on X, formerly Twitter, “Please protect susceptible vegetation, and if you are traveling south, bring your jackets!” according to the center.

Warning: Heavy Frost and Freeze Expected in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina

If the temperature is predicted to drop below 28 degrees for three hours or more, a hard freeze warning is issued. They happen roughly once every ten years in rural parts of south Florida’s interior, and less commonly near coastal metropolitan areas.

Meanwhile, snow is predicted for California, and several Western states are under winter weather alerts nationwide.
