Massive Marijuana Bust Over 900 Pounds Seized in Kentucky!

Last week, customs agents in the state of Kentucky were able to seize more than 900 pounds of marijuana, according to the authorities.

On April 25, customs officials in Louisville, Kentucky, were able to intercept 36 boxes carrying a total of 909 pounds of marijuana, as stated in a press statement that was published by the United States Customs and Border Protection on Monday.

According to the article in the Lexington Herald-Leader, the marijuana was vacuum-sealed before being wrapped in the boxes and then placed on three pallets. According to the report in the newspaper, customs officers estimated that the marijuana had a worth of more than $2.27 million if it had been sold on the street.

According to the customs inspectors, the consignment had its beginnings in Canada and was intended for a business in the state of California. An X-ray was taken by the authorities, and at that time, they noticed a “organic anomaly inconsistent with the manifested items and inspected the shipment.” This led to the discovery of the marijuana.

According to the customs officers, the parcels that had been vacuum wrapped contained “a green leafy substance” that had a positive result for marijuana.

According to the Herald-Leader, while marijuana use for medical purposes and for recreational purposes is permitted in certain states, the purchase, possession, manufacturing, and distribution of marijuana are still prohibited by federal law in the United States.

“Our officers are focused on their mission to protect the United States,” said LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, director of field operations for the Chicago Field Office, in a statement. “Drug smugglers make repeated attempts to bring illegal substances into the country, but our officers are always on the lookout to prevent these narcotics from entering our neighborhoods.”
