Two children tragically lost their lives following a medical emergency at a Southside residence on Saturday afternoon.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit reported that, around noon, both police and paramedics swiftly responded to the 2100 block of Cromwell Road in reaction to a medical emergency involving these two young individuals.

Lt. Adam Blinnat reported that upon arrival, police found two kids who were “unresponsive.”

Blinnat stated that, “Life-saving efforts were performed, but sadly both children were pronounced deceased.”

Both the Homicide Unit and the Crime Scene Unit were dispatched to the residence in Southside Estates.

It’s very early on in the probe, but authorities have been told, “that both children were playing in the home and, when checked on, both were found unresponsive.”

He mentioned that there were other adults and children present at the time, and they are currently undergoing interviews.

The Medical Examiner’s Office still needs to establish the cause of death, and the police are yet to determine whether the incident was accidental or involved foul play.
