MIAMI BEACH, FLA. – A hit-and-run incident on the streets of Miami Beach resulted in a scooter catching fire and the rider being taken to the hospital. The authorities are now searching for the driver responsible for the collision.
The fiery crash occurred close to Miami Beach’s well-known Lincoln Road, prompting the police to launch a hunt for the driver who callously left the scooter rider injured.
A witness shared their reaction to the scene shortly after the accident, which happened around 7 p.m. on Monday night. “I tell you, in today’s accident, people don’t stop,” they said.
According to a couple of witnesses, a red BMW collided with the scooter at the intersection of 16th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, causing the rider to be thrown to the ground. “He was going to turn to the right, and the red car t-boned him and he flew,” described witness Carlos Farreyo.
Within minutes, emergency responders arrived, quickly attending to the victim and transporting him in an ambulance to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was seen wearing a neck brace.
The scooter itself was extinguished by firefighters who sprayed it with water, leaving it nothing but a charred piece of metal.
To investigate the incident further and find the driver responsible, the police temporarily blocked off the intersection to gather evidence.
Fortunately, the reports suggest that the scooter rider sustained only minor injuries.
