Miami CVS Employees Beaten After Morning After Pill Confrontation Turns Violent

According to authorities, the two workers were assaulted inside the Miami CVS following an altercation involving a client, a clerk, and a management.

The crime happened at the CVS at 4800 Biscayne Blvd. on March 23 at approximately 11:15 a.m., according to the arrest records of the accused.

Shanetria Neomi Pitts, 32, reportedly entered the store and requested to buy Plan B medicine, according to the police.

Before helping other customers at a separate register, the store clerk allegedly gave Pitts the prescription, according to the police.

Authorities added that a different clerk went over to ring up Pitts’ prescription after noticing that the wait at the register was getting longer.

According to the report, the clerk noticed Pitts had manipulated the Plan B box and was fidgeting with her purse, so she informed her that the medication needed to be purchased since the box had been opened.

Pitts then became enraged, yelling at the clerk that she had the money to pay and is not a thief, police said.

Authorities said the clerk called her manager over to assist because Pitts was being “disrespectful” toward her.

According to the report, Pitts told the store manager that she left her wallet in her car, so she went outside to get it and then returned to the store to make her purchase.

However, according to authorities, Pitts stayed in her car for a short while after finishing up until a different vehicle arrived and parked close to her.

Pitts swung at the manager, who was still at the register, when Windell Sweetenburg, 23, was riding in that car, according to the police.

The woman’s “hair was removed from her head” by Pitts, according to the report.

According to the police, the victim lost consciousness while attempting to separate from Pitts.

Authorities claimed that after the clerk and Pitts got into a verbal fight, Sweetenburg and Pitts attacked the clerk when she tried to assist her employer and moved behind the register.

According to police, the two kept attacking the women. At one point, the manager felt Sweetenburg take her smartphone out of her right back pocket, take the store keys, and walk out of the establishment.

On March 27, both victims recognized the culprits in a picture lineup.

Wednesday saw the arrest of Pitts and Sweetenburg. Pitts, according to the police, exercised her right to silence, and Sweetenburg gave a “full confession.”

The two men are accused with strongarm robbery.

When Pitts appeared in bond court on Thursday, the store manager gave a statement on the incident.

“You decided to come back to the CVS and put your hands on me and another employee,” the victim stated.

According to the police, the attack sent both employees to the hospital.

“It took a real toll on us — not just mentally, but physically as well,” the manager stated.

As of Thursday, neither suspect had been released from custody on a bond, and Pitts received harsh words from the court.

“She made a conscious decision to go into the CVS, and the lady offered to let her pay. The lady even stole the keys to the store, stole her phone (and) never returned it,” the judge stated.
