Miami-Dade police arrested Gregory Antwone Youngblood, a 43-year-old Miami resident, on Friday. He is accused of sexually assaulting two women on separate occasions after offering them rides at gunpoint. Youngblood now faces two charges of armed sexual battery.
The first incident occurred on July 8 when Youngblood approached a 25-year-old woman who was walking along Northwest 17th Avenue and 75th Street in northwest Miami-Dade’s Gladeview area.
He offered her a ride to her friend’s house but instead drove past the intended destination. Youngblood then stopped his vehicle near Northwest 12th Avenue and 72nd Street and demanded the woman to engage in sexual activity.
When she refused, he pulled out a gun and coerced her into the back seat, where he sexually assaulted her without using protection.
After the assault, he dropped her off nearby and fled the scene. The victim sought medical attention at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Rape Treatment Center, where a rape kit collected evidence that matched Youngblood’s DNA.
The second incident occurred on September 14 when a 22-year-old woman asked Youngblood for a ride in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and 87th Street in northwest Miami-Dade’s West Little River area.
He drove her to Northwest 36th Avenue and 87th Street, where he forced her into the back of his SUV and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.
During the attack, the woman activated the “SOS” button on her phone, which alerted the police to her location. As officers approached, Youngblood fled, but authorities apprehended him on Friday.
Youngblood has denied the allegations made by the women.
A Miami-Dade judge has found probable cause to charge him with armed sexual battery, and he is currently held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. If convicted, he could face a life sentence in prison.
