Miami Man Arrested After Terrifying Road Rage Incident With Gun Threat to Woman and Children

On Tuesday, authorities apprehended a man from northwest Miami-Dade, following an incident two days prior where he allegedly brandished a firearm at a woman and four children during a road rage altercation in Miami’s Little River district.

The incident unfolded around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of North Miami Avenue and Northeast 79th Street, as per the police.

According to an arrest report, the woman stated that she was driving with her three children, aged 1, 3, and 7, along with her 15-year-old sister.

She refused to allow a Honda Civic, driven by a man later identified as Taylor Alexis Gonzalez, to cut in front of her.

This apparently agitated Gonzalez, prompting him to maneuver around the woman. He then pulled over, exited the vehicle, and pointed a handgun at the family. A woman, later identified as Gonzalez’s girlfriend, also briefly left the car.

The woman drove away, but Gonzalez caught up with her and once again halted, threatening the family with the gun.

According to the report, this sequence of events repeated several times until the woman spotted a Miami police car and flagged down the officer inside.

Subsequently, Gonzalez, 22, drove down a side street and fled the scene, as stated by the police.

The woman’s sister captured the incident on video, which displayed Gonzalez’s license plate number. Officers used this information to locate him on Tuesday night in the vicinity of Northwest Second Avenue and 167th Street, according to the report.

Police indicated they attempted to apprehend Gonzalez, and after an initial attempt to flee, they eventually detained him in front of his residence on Northwest Fifth Court in Miami-Dade’s West Little River area.

While Gonzalez’s girlfriend claimed she couldn’t recollect any specifics about the incident, upon viewing the video, she identified the gun-wielding individual as her boyfriend of eight months, as stated in the report.

Based on jail records, a judge determined there was probable cause to charge Gonzalez with five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one count of fleeing and eluding a police officer.

As of Wednesday afternoon, he remained in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond.
